Designed by renowned architect Stanford White and constructed in 1896, the "Thomas Nelson Page House" at 1759 R Street NW is one of DC's most historic homes. Pizzano was selected to renovate the building bring the building to modern standards for the Wyss Foundation, a non-profit focused on land conservation, children's health, and social justice.
Pizzano refinished the entirety of the 30,000-square-foot former residence, while adding contemporary gas, lighting, and HVAC upgrades throughout. Special care was taken to preserve the unique historical details of the property, while making it suitable for a modern office space.
“As an architect you design for the present, with an awareness of the past, for a future which is essentially unknown.”
