Tierra Encantada

This is some text inside of a div block.

Tierra Encantada provides Spanish immersion early education for children aged from 6 weeks to 6 years of age. Pizzano's experience in similar projects like Bluebird Daycare and VINCI School made it a perfect fit to build this space in Alexandria, VA.

Pizzano worked with the team to transform this 10,000-sf space from a second-floor parking garage into the Tierra Encantada Daycare Center. This project had several challenges to overcome, the space had a very low deck height and the design needed to be altered to include open ceilings to accommodate the lights and mechanical above. The concrete deck was converted into a playground by the addition of rubber flooring to make the area child friendly. Pizzano also added a full kitchen to the education facility. This project was awarded a 2022 NAIOP Award of Merit for Adaptive Reuse.

“As an architect you design for the present, with an awareness of the past, for a future which is essentially unknown.”
