Ellmore Farmhouse

This is some text inside of a div block.

ServiceSource, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting people with disabilities and their caregivers, engaged Pizzano Contractors for the conversion of The Ellmore Farmhouse, a historical farmhouse owned by Fairfax County, into a long-term community integrated service site in Northern Virginia. Pizzano contractors, who have a long-standing relationship with ServiceSource, and extensive experience serving the disability community, were selected to make this transformation a reality for a worthy cause.

Pizzano Contractors collaborated with Contexture Design Studio on this 2,760 SF project, which involved renovating the historical farmhouse into a fully accessible long-term community integrated service center. The project was faced with unique build challenges; preserving the building's historical façade and interior features including existing staircase and banisters. Through careful planning and design, the team successfully created an open concept space with structural improvements to meet floor load requirements and installed Lula lifts to enhance accessibility to the second floor.

“As an architect you design for the present, with an awareness of the past, for a future which is essentially unknown.”
